Hey, remember that time I took a spur of the moment trip to Italy? Well I am FINALLY going to tell you about it! First, let me tell you about all the amazing things I did on the other side of the Arno...an area in which I had always wanted to spend more time.
One of the first things I did was meet up with my friend Alyson. We had lunch at a little cafe called BBQ. There were no sticky saucy ribs here, but they had many types of roasted meats on the menu. I had the svizzera, which is basically just a bun-less burger...but the most amazing perfectly cooked, rare burger I have ever had. Hand-cut french fries, caramelized onions, and homemade aioli completed this amazing dish.
It was raining like crazy all day. Even though I had planned to spend some time in the famous piazzas of Oltr'arno, I only had time to stroll through Santo Spirito. I tried my best to imagine what it would be like with all the tables and chairs set out, birds chirping, and kids running around the piazza.
One evening Kake, some friends and I headed to San Niccoló, a neighborhood Oltr'arno that is defined by . We went to a small bar called il Rifrullo, via di San Niccolò, 55/r, where we had delicious cocktails of rum, cucumber, lime and basil. It was nice to hang out with peers/girlfriends, something I rarely do here in the US (something I miss very much about living in a city). There was a restaurant/bar/foodie-hot-spot across the street, NAME HERE, where one of the girls told me you can order the most amazing fresh mozzarella. It's on my to-do list for our next visit/stay in Florence!
There was one other "technically" oltr'arno adventure, but I will tell you about it some other time....it's pretty amazing!

it feels good to be writing again! I wish I had done this sooner while it was fresh in my mind, but it is great reliving the moments.
That cocktail...oh my. I think it was actually mint too, or maybe just mint? it all sounds good!
I finally remembered the bar name, and I am asking the girls if they remember the other. Check back in a few hours and hopefully it will be posted!
