About Me

Hi and thanks for making it this far on Ribollita Reboiled! I'm Em, and as you can see in my profile over there on the right of the homepage, I am originally from Louisiana then moved to New York.  We spent some time in Florence, Italy and I have dreams of returning one day.  In the meantime, this blog shares my love of this incredible city, what life has been like back in the states, and some of my culture from back home in Cajun Country.

I am not a "writer" in a trained sense.  I overuse parentheses and paragraph breaks. My grammer grammar will leave you want.  I don't always stay on point.  I try to follow my "theme" but don't always succeed.  BUT I write from the heart with honesty and try to share what I love about Florence, and about growing up down the bayou.  I have opinions and think farting is funny, so if you don't want to read about that you probably won't like me.

I studied landscape architecture and now work in the newsroom at The New York Times (Read: not as a writer).  I have been married to A. for over 6 years and we have an incredible daughter, G. who is now four years old.  On an given weekend I can be found walking around my yard in bare feet making up chores to do so I can stay outside.  I like to run, watch TV on my computer so I don't have to see commercials, read, live "green", and cook, mostly cajun/southern food.  A. does all the Italian cooking so well, it's not worth trying.  A man that can cook....who's complaining? Not me.

I am now pregnant [READ: hungry, tired].  Stay tuned for detailed posts about gas bubbles, hormone induced wild dreams, and cravings for bologna mustard sandwiches with iced tea.

  • I used to blog at Confessions of a 20-something Caffeine Addict, and then moved it to a new URL/platform.  You could call these my archives, and they document my first thoughts of moving abroad, to living there, and back.
